supermax (2 weights)
designed by cornel windlin and gilles gavillet, 1999 (after a design by max bill, ca. 1930)

seduced by max bill's classic logo design for "wohnbedarf", a furniture shop catering to the needs of the emerging modernist architectural scene of the bauhaus era, we decided to adapt the design principle of the logo to interprete a whole character set. to our knowledge, bill never extended the alphabet beyond the letters he needed for the "wohnbedarf" logo. the font exists as a lower case version only, but with alternate characters on lower case and upper case positions - one being horizontally, the other vertically inclined.
